Our Mission: Providing financial solutions for every stage of life.
State of the Credit Union
Happy February! It’s hard to believe that today marks the first day of February and that we already have one month of 2019 in the books! In my last letter, I encouraged you all to learn more about our core values and discussed how we intend to make Continuous Improvement an even more dominant part of our daily routines in 2019.

Our tagline is Love Where You Bank because we want you to have an amazing member experience when you bank with us. Similarly, we want our employees to Love Where They Work so we also practice our core value of Continuous Improvement when working to make their everyday experience as an employee the best it can be.

It is important to me that our members understand our company culture. This is truly a special place, and our employees really do love where they work. I hope you can see it on our faces, hear it in our voices, and feel it in the services we provide you. Whether it’s in the branch, over the phone, or at a community event, I want you to understand that with everything we do, we are communicating the core value of Continuous Improvement. We strive for excellence in everything we do -- always seeking to improve quality service. We are committed to creating the best solutions, individually and as an organization.

I'm excited to announce that we have a brand new video to share with you! This video embodies everything Community First represents, whether it’s an executive talking about our core values, our employees discussing professional growth, or our community partners and/or Foundation recipients reflecting on how we’ve supported our mutual missions for the community. We call it the Love Where You Work video.

Personally, I feel a huge sense of pride when watching this video. I hope you all can see how this is just a snapshot of how we work hard every day to make everyone’s lives a little bit better. As our Chief Information Officer says in the video, “We are a company that tries to do good.” I hope you enjoy watching the video and that it gives you even more reasons to Love Where You Bank.

The Community First Cares Foundation Awards $10,000 Grant to Monique Burr Foundation for Children

 Monique Burr News Release

The Community First Cares Foundation announces it has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Monique Burr Foundation for Children (MBF). The grant will fund the development and piloting of MBF’s latest prevention education program, MBF Teen Safety Matters®, which will provide the curriculum to high school students on the First Coast.

“The Community First Cares Foundation’s partnership has been vital in helping us develop and pilot MBF Teen Safety Matters®,” said Lynn Layton, President and CEO of the Monique Burr Foundation for Children. “Because of Community First Cares Foundation’s generosity in the past, MBF was able to expand our programming for middle school students – and to date, have reached 74,000 middle school students in Northeast Florida. The current funds will allow us to continue that expansion into high schools, thus allowing us to reach even more students in all grades, K-12, with critical safety information.”

The mission of the Monique Burr Foundation for Children is to make a positive impact on the community as a whole, to create change in a family's life for the better, and to give hope in the life of a child by providing bullying and child abuse prevention safety education that is relevant to issues facing children today.

INK Champions for Children

The Community First Cares Foundation Awards an Additional $2,500 to Hilary Fisler, Grand Prize Winner of the "Champions for Children" Classroom Innovation Grants

In our January 2019 edition of the Community First Insider, we told you about how the Community First Cares Foundation worked with Investing in Kids (INK!) to award ten $1,000 "Champions for Children" classroom grants to support teachers with innovative classroom projects. During the St. Johns County Teacher of the Year celebration in January, we awarded one of those grant recipients -- Hilary Fisler at R. J. Murray Middle School -- with an additional $2,500 grant for her innovative classroom project! Ms. Fisler will use these funds for her idea of “Breakout Boxes,” which are learning resources that challenge students to apply their classroom knowledge to escape room-type games. Congratulations, Ms. Fisler!
