State of the Credit Union

A letter from our CEO, John Hirabayashi

John Hirabayashi

Dear Valued Member,

One of the most powerful takeaways from 2021 — a year when the coronavirus pandemic continued to keep us apart — was how strong we are together. It’s a lesson in resiliency made abundantly clear in our 2021 Community First Credit Union Annual Report, now available on our website.

Those of you who attended our annual meeting March 10 or have read the report will know that we had an exceptional year. We set new records for deposits, assets and loans. Our investment services division thrived, our commercial portfolio expanded rapidly, and our loan defaults were far lower than anticipated.

The fact that we achieved these results in the second year of a global pandemic was a testament to the resiliency of our member community — and the member service commitment of the entire Community First team. In fact, the 2021 achievement of which I am most proud was our success in raising our member satisfaction scores in the second half of the year, despite the “pandemic fatigue” we were all feeling.

Service is the core of our mission, because we truly do work for you, our members. Whether you need an affordable loan for an important purchase, guidance on long-term financial goals or simply courteous, convenient service in the midst of a busy day, Community First treats you like the family you are.

I encourage you to take a few minutes to look over our annual report and share in the pride of being part of this very special community-based financial services institution. Never has the strength of our community been more evident — or more vital — and the Community First team thanks you for trusting us to meet your financial needs.
